Free Holidays for Carers

*** Please note - Due to Covid-19 and the challenges this has created for holiday parks there may be a delay in our posting of the application form for 2021 probably to December 2020 or January 2021 (We are still planning to offer breaks for 2021 if at all possible and will post an application form here as soon as possible)***

Holidays are offered to Carers without the person they normally care for so that they may have a proper Respite Break.

THERE IS NO CHARGE for the breaks

We alsoi have use of a holiday Cottage near Longleat Safari Park where a few weeks are kindly donated by the owner each year.

We are delighted to announce our first ever carers retreat. We have been kindly offered the use of a 7 bedroomed ‘mansion’ on the Kent coast at Walmer so have decided to try something new with this amazing venue.
The idea is that we can give carers a free week long break, on a B&B basis, with their own bedroom and sharing the house and gardens with other carers. We are hoping to arrange some optional free trips out to the local sights too. The main aim is to allow carers to have a relaxing break with other carers who understand the challenges of caring. It is planned as a very informal week, the house has lots of quiet places if you want to sit in peace, and of course, the opportunity to chat if prefered.

***Please note that due to Covid-19 our Carers Retreat is postponed - we will post here when a new date is set***

A message from our Patron Miss Joanna Lumley OBE, FRGS

" Of all the unsung heroes in the world, carers come top of my list. It is humbling to read of the love, time and dedication they give so constantly to others: their voices are seldom heard, as they so seldom complain. When they DO call for help we must react at once, with support and understanding and gratitude. And lovely money: what seems like peanuts to larger organisations would be a godsend to the Respite Association, as it means that we can help ease the burden (which would be intolerable in our own lives) and bring some comfort, escape and freedom to those who give their all to others every day and night, week after month after year. These are my heroes: these are the stars I admire and applaud. Knowing that every gift to Respite will bring happiness touches me hugely.  I am so proud to be Patron of this fine charity. "
