Born in Kent “an awfully long time ago(!)” John now lives in Cumbria where he runs a successful charity fundraising consultancy. A founder member of Respite John is also a Trustee of The Bentley Young Persons Trust and is an Associate Mental Health Act Manager for Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Having spent many years as a volunteer fundraiser, earning a living in the book trade, he joined The Nottinghamshire Hospice as full time fundraiser in 1997 before moving to Cumbria. It is the work at the hospice along with first hand experience that made John realise the desperate need for an organisation like the Respite Association |

Catherine Scaife - Trustee

Catherine lives in South Yorkshire with her husband Rodney, who suffers from vascular dementia, and so she has first hand experience of the demands of being a sole carer 24/7. Catherine and Rodney have a son and daughter, three grand daughters and one grandson and are priveleged to be allowed to live in the same house as their two cats. |

| The Respite Association is about the little things; a chance to relax, to shop or to have a break. The things we all take for granted...until they are taken away! |
